Have you ever wondered how you can hide non working hours in your Outlook calendar view?  This has driven me nuts for longer than I’d like to admit.  Despite my best efforts, I’ve never been able to find supporting materials online to accomplish this.  All of the discussion and Microsoft support posts I’ve found date back almost ten years and there are a multitude of other people asking the exact same question!  I knew I’d seen it work before in the past so I was determined to figure it out again.

By Default Outlook Calendar Shows All Hours in a 24/7 Format

If you want an efficient view of your weekly tasks then the easiest way is to hide non working hours in Outlook’s calendar.  This will maximize the view of your hours of productivity.  It also prevents you from scrolling through non working hours.  The thing is, Microsoft doesn’t actually allow for that.  Seeing as how people have been asking for years, it’s unlikely to change anytime soon.  Most people view it as a glitch and think it’s an technical issue.  In reality it is a time scale issue.  The solutions you can find when searching the internet vary from non helpful to downright comical. (check it out: you can’t make this stuff up) Ultimately none seem to direct you to a fix that will change your working view.

How to Remove Non Working Hours in the Calendar “Work Week” and “Week” View

These steps will work for all current versions of Outlook.  To reduce your calendar view to working hours only, go to “View” and click on “Change View.”  Then navigate to “Manage Views.” From here you want to highlight “Calendar” under View Name, and click on “Modify.”

Once your under the “Advanced View Settings: Calendar” you want to click on “Other Settings

Now, you’re finally ready for the magic to happen.  Change your time scale from “60 Minutes” to “30 Minutes”

Now when you navigate back to your outlook calendar you’ll see the main display is now maximized across your main working hours.  You can still scroll to non working hours if you choose to.  However, your main visual display will only populate with the working hours you designate in Outlook.  Enjoy!
